Yes! This course is fully funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. There is one thing you will need to contribute if you want to join and that is YOUR EXPERIENCES. We want to use your experiences to evidence how effective these practices are when used 'ALL TOGETHER' in one course with supportive people. We won't change the way our health services are delivered unless we start evidencing that alternative methods work! Our health service is pretty stuck in it's old ways of treating the symptoms of people's ill health rather than promoting whole person health. This is what we want to gather during this course.
The course is 8 weeks long. Weekly sessions are held for up to 90 minutes. There is an evening time course of 8 weeks planned in April 2026 until June 2026. A further course is planned in September 2026 through until November 2026. One may be more suitable for you than the other. Every week you will have an experience of all the activities like, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, chair yoga stretches. So there will be lots of fun things to experience. We will provide you with light refreshments during every session to keep you comfortable. The first week we will be collecting your starting point data of how you felt before you began. There will be a mid point participant feedback point. The last week we will also revisit this finding out what's changed. We will give you some activities to do in your own time in between the weekly sessions. In this way you are more likely to form new healthy habits that start to change your experiences of living for the better.
The course will start with a week of introduction, meeting everyone in the group and your guide, Julie. A survey will be taken for each participant of how you are before we start learning all these great new life skills. This will give you, and us a baseline of where you started and this along with all other data will be shared with our partners Essex University anonymously. There will then be time for an experience of a shorter chair yoga practice session as a taster for what's to come. We may take voice recordings of your experiences if you are happy to share in this way, or written feedback in fun & interesting ways. We will do this throughout the course. We will be recording the course from the back of the room to improve the course content and structure. No one person in the class will be identified via these recordings as the camera is focussed on the teacher. We know this might not suit everyone but we just want to be honest and up front. We cant improve unless we know what we did in the first place. The second week we will use one topic like mindfulness and have a little teaching and experience of it. You will get handouts for your workbook and links to the class recording to use after the session. We will then incorporate a full taught session of supported chair yoga so you can experience your new teaching. Each session will follow the same agenda and have a new focus, like breathwork, meditation, supported yoga stretch and life coaching/ positive mindset and then a full session of practical supported chair yoga and somatic movement to follow every week, where you will experience what has been taught in the moment, on the day. You will be provided with experiences to take home and use in between sessions like links to video classes, mp3 recordings to listen to at home so you can start to take charge of your own wellbeing. We create new habits by practicing things little and often, daily. We create habits that support our wellbeing, or habits that do not. I am sure you have a few habits you would rather not have and they are difficult to break. Right? This course is about you creating new healthier habits that support your mental , physical and emotional wellbeing, and these can be made in as little as 21 days. The reason why the course is 8 weeks long is to give you as much opportunity as possible to get hooked on something that's really good for you mind, body and Spirit!
As we are collecting important data so we would expect you to attend all 8 sessions. We might get sick from time to time and of course if this were to happen we would expect you to stay home and get well. We would then send you the recordings and expect you to catch up on what was missed and continue as soon as you are better. If you have holidays booked or other commitments please do not take a place on the course. Only take a place if you can use all the sessions.
We have accounted for up to 20 people to join this course. There may be less than this. The group will not change once the course has commenced. No new people will join. Your comfort is key and we want you to feel safe to participate, have fun and to share at all times. We will have a few fabulous volunteers from Cre8 Wellbeing who will support us all to have a great experience.
